Characteristics or Early Signs of Autism Infographic

Parents should be aware of the early signs of autism. Below is an infographic displaying some the characteristics of autism. This should not be considered comprehensive, but instead merely present some things for parents to keep an eye on when watching the behavior of their children.

Early Signs of Autism

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, doctors should begin screening for autism by 18 months. Now some researchers are suggesting that signs of autism can be seen as early as 12 months.

Parents know their children better than anybody. And while the characteristics shown in the image relate to autism, they also overlap with many other learning disabilities. If your child exhibits any combination of these, talk to your physician about a screening.
